LOS ANGELES— Authorities are still attempting to recover a popular looksmaxxing influencer after he reportedly became trapped in what witnesses described as an "infinite recursive feedback loop" upon making prolonged eye contact with himself in a bathroom mirror during a heroic dose of psilocybin mushrooms.
According to friends, the incident began innocently enough when the influencer excused himself from a wellness networking event to "check facial symmetry for just a second."
He never returned.
Witnesses claim he repeated muffled phrases such as, "I’m beautiful on the outside, I’m beautiful on the outside…" and "I’m him…really him tho" and could be heard yelling slurs at imaginary TikTok followers in the bathroom for nearly six hours.
"When we finally got him to respond, he just kept whispering, 'I'm beautiful ,but I need to prove it to you,'" said one attendee. "Then he'd laugh, cry, flex his jawline, and start the entire conversation with himself in the mirror over again."
Experts say the phenomenon, known in underground psychonaut circles as ‘mirror lock’ can occur when a sufficiently self-conscious individual encounters their own reflection while under the influence of psychedelics, causing the ego to repeatedly crash and reboot like a laptop running 47 Chrome tabs.
The influencer's livestream, which accidentally remained active throughout the ordeal, quickly amassed over 12 million views. Thousands of followers weighed in on the mirror session with several of the looksmaxxer’s sponsors taking the opportunity to plug their skin care products and supplement subscription offers. "The mirror never lies, but it can definitely trip you the fuck out’ said one livestream viewer with the screenname ‘Maxximus’.
Several competing influencers have already announced premium retreats promising participants the opportunity to "integrate their shadow” into their beauty routine.
At press time, the influencer had finally emerged from the bathroom, announced that beauty was an illusion manufactured by the ego, and that his next mushroom trip would feature a larger mirror and several B-list celebrities on hand to glaze him on further.
